O my Shi’a
Whenever you sip sweetwater remember me
. فأنـا السبط الذي من غـير جـرم قـتلوني
Or hear about a stranger slain or martyr weep for me
** و بجرد الخيل بعد القتل عمدا سحقوني
For I am the prophet’s grandson killed for no guilt
Then trampled beneath the hooves of unsaddled steeds
ينور العين
Oh light of my eye
عمت عيوني لو نسيت الخيل
May blindness strike me if I forget the hooves that stormed your body
و ركضة عيالك بسواد الليل
Your children fleeing through the night
و كسرة گلب بنتك رقية
And Rokaya’s heartbreak in fright
يبو الاكبر
O abu Al Akbar
شلون انسى زينب تدخل الديوان
How could I ever forget Zainab stepping in the court
وحيدة وانت موسد التربان
Alone, while you’re lying on the ground with no shroud
ششلون انسى چلمة يا سبية
How can I forget the word “slave” upon her grace?
يا بعد الروح
O dearer than my soul
يا ريته ابني لصوبو نحره
Let the spear point my son
و نار العطش تتلاهب بصدره
Let thirst burn in my chest, flame by flame
و يسلم علي الاصغر بداله
If only Ali Al Asghar remain safe instead
يابو الاكبر
O father of Al Akbar
ريته العمد صوبني على الراس
Let iron strike me on the head,
و سالم يظل عضيدك العباس
If Abbas remains your steadfast crown,
و لا ينخسف بدره و جماله
A banner of loyalty, standing tall

شيعتي لو شفتو طفلة تنادي والدها بغيابه
O my Shi’a, if you see a little girl calling for her father lost
و تنتظر جيته بألم تحضنه و تشما بثابه
Waiting in tears to hug his scent-worn clothes
لو سمعتوها تنادي بالالم وينك يا بابا
If you hear her cries “where are you father”
ذكرو ابنيتي الحبيبة الماتت بوسط الخرابة
Remember my beloved daughter, dead in the barren

وينه القميص لتشمينه؟
Where’s the shirt you used to embrace?
وينه الصدر لي تضمينه؟
Where’s the chest you used to hug?
يا وسفه ظل عالغبره عاري
What a sorrow! He remained on dust, exposed and bare
راس الابو بيا حاله شفتينه؟
How did you find your father that day?
طابع اثر حجر على جبينه
The mark of stone engraved where he lay
و دمه على الوجنات جاري
And blood flowing down his cheeks.
